GreaterGood blends e-commerce with philanthropy and has given away more than $40 million to various causes over the past # years.  As they added more developers to support their growth, they found existing processes weren’t supportive of getting the high impact projects done. Labs8 Consulting embedded itself as director of engineering, provided sourcing and hiring of key talents while developing new products and lean processes.  The results included the implementation of a cloud-based email marketing system facilitating millions of emails being sent each week with open rates averaging 30%. Labs8 also developed and released an in-house publishing platform to power their 20+ sites. Finally, Labs8 developed and released a  mobile app that delivered a 98% retention rate for its users. These efforts provided the GreaterGood engineering team with the essentials needed to support execution and rapid growth.

Technology

Health-e Pro, a menu-planning software company serving K-12 schools, was faced with an immediate need to transition IT from an outside firm to an in-house team. The obvious concerns were how to do this without product disruption and increased costs. Labs8 was brought in to lead this transition while identifying and managing the procurement of offshore developers to provide long-term, cost-efficient, support to the in-house team. Partnering with the internal team, Lasb8 set up quality control systems to improve software reliability. One significant improvement involved moving the software from one large server to multiple smaller servers, reducing the risk of outages by 70% and reducing hosting costs in the long run. The new platform also positions Health-e Pro for future scale without impacting software reliability. The new offshore development team provided 300% more bandwidth than before for 30% of the cost of a local development team. Labs8 not only helped build an IT team but also set processes and training in place to ensure success.

Marketing

Health-e Pro, a menu planning software serving K-12 schools, lost their marketing manager during their critical sales season. Marketing began to lose momentum, impacting the company’s ability to achieve revenue goals for 2017. Labs8 provided a part-time marketing manager to assist in hiring and mentoring the new team, recommending new processes, strategies and establishing performance measurements to track results. These efforts resulted in the creation of a high functioning marketing and the achievement of revenue growth goals.
